The annual Fredericksburg Photography show took place last weekend. I find that the biggest advantage of this competition is that it makes me evaluate my work, organize it and then print the best for the show. I try to do these things regularly but having a deadline always puts it at the top of my list and I get it done for the show.
I entered the above photo in the portraiture category and got a second place ribbon. It was printed and matted by Bay photo on William Turner paper which was somewhat expensive but worth it for the final result.
I made this photo while in Maine last summer at a workshop at Maine Media. The expression and the eyes drew me into the photo. It got a third place ribbon in Portraiture.
I made this photo while in Havana, Cuba in March. We went on a tour of Havana to see the places made famous by Hemingway. Mostly bars like this one. It got Third place in Street Photography.
